The "Catch the Reading Bug" Summer Reading Program began on 
Monday, July 14 kicked off by Mr. Pat Donahue (Beau the Clown). We 
had an excellent crowd and listening to children's laughter had the 
adults laughing wholeheartedly as well. Joanne Sheedy will again 
direct this program with help from the library staff. Nice n' 
Easy's manager will support our library again this year by donating a 
slice of pizza and drink for each youngster who reads 10 books. 
Thanks BJ!! Anyone 18 years old and younger can take part in this 
annual event. The country store goodies can be earned by reading for 
those 13 year old and younger. Hundreds of new books for young people 
have been processed for the program and we look forward to surpassing 
last year's attendance.

         Our library just received word from the NYS Education Dept. 
in Albany that our registration has been approved which is a followup 
to receiving our charter.

          We have been told by NCLS that sometime next year we should 
go automated and are preparing for that by doing all we can ahead of 
time to make this an easier goal. Regular patrons are being processed 
for the Universal Cards and we are closing in on entering our 
collection on the catalog.

           A new area rug arrived just in time for the visit of our 
clown, making it more comfortable for our children to sit on the 
floor and another one is on order for the conference room. Our next 
in-library project is renovating our staff office which will begin in 
August. We ask you to forgive the mess as we do so.

            We anxiously await our new computer and printer and going 
wireless laer this summer.
